1. This order may be cited as the A41 London to Birkenhead Trunk Road (Oxfordshire) (Detrunking) Order 2003 and shall come into force 31st January 2004.
2. In this Order—
(i)“principal road” as a classification for a highway, means that the highway is a principal road for the purposes of enactments and instruments which refer to highways classified as principal roads and is also classified for the purpose of every other enactment and instrument which refers to highways classified by the Secretary of State; and
(ii)“the trunk road” means the A41 London to Birkenhead Trunk Road
3. The length of the trunk road described in the Schedule to this Order shall cease to be a trunk road and shall be classified as a principal road from the date on which the Secretary of State notifies Oxfordshire County Council that it will become the highway authority responsible for that length of road.

The length of trunk road ceasing to be a trunk road is situated between M40 at Junction 9 and the County Boundary of Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire (east of Blackthorn) to include
the A41/A421 Oxford Road Roundabout
the A41/B4100 Rodney House Roundabout
two slip roads at Chesterton Road Flyover
and is shown by broad black dashes on the plan numbered A41-75363/4/A41/001 to /006 marked “The A41 Trunk Road M40 Junction 9 to Oxfordshire/Buckinghamshire Boundary” signed by authority of the Secretary of State for Transport and deposited at DfT Records Management Branch, Floor 13 (IMD), Ashdown House, St Leonards on Sea, Hastings, East Sussex TN37 7GA.
