HEALTH CARE AND ASSOCIATED PROFESSIONS
The Health Act 1999 (Commencement No. 8) Order 2000

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 67(1) and (2) of the Health Act 1999(1), and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:
Citation and interpretation
1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Health Act 1999 (Commencement No. 8) Order 2000.
(2) In this Order “the Act” means the Health Act 1999.
Appointed day
2.—(1) Subject to paragraph (2), 15th March 2000 is the day appointed for the coming into force of subsections (1), (2) and (4) of section 60 of the Act and Schedule 3 to the Act.
(2) The reference in paragraph 11(3) of Schedule 3 to the Act to arrangements made under section 28C of the National Health Service Act 1977(2), is to be taken as referring only to a pilot scheme under Part I of the National Health Service (Primary Care) Act 1997(3) under which personal medical services are to be provided, and the purpose of bringing paragraph 11(3) of Schedule 3 to the Act into force is limited accordingly.

Explanatory Note
(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order brings into force further provisions of the Health Act 1999.
The provisions which are brought into force relate to the regulation of health care and associated professions, including the amendment of legislation relating to such professions, by means of Orders in Council.
Note as to Earlier Commencement Orders

The following provisions of the Health Act 1999 have been, or are to be, brought into force by commencement order made before the date of this Order. In addition to the provisions listed below, various provisions of Part II of, and Schedules 4 and 5 to, the Act that extend only to Scotland have been brought into force on 1st October 1999 by the Health Act 1999 (Commencement No. 4) (Scotland) Order 1999, S.S.I. 1999/90 (C. 66), on 14th October 1999 by the Health Act 1999 (Commencement No. 6) (Scotland) Order 1999, S.S.I. 1999 No. 115 (C. 73) and on 1st March 2000 by the Health Act 1999 (Commencement No. 7) (Scotland) Order 2000, S.S.I. 2000 No. 38 (C. 2).
