The Estate Agents (Fees) Regulations 1982

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 6(2), 8(5), 30(3) and 33 of the Estate Agents Act 1979 and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:—

1.—(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Estate Agents (Fees) Regulations 1982 and shall come into operation on 1st June 1982.

(2) In these Regulations, “the Act” means the Estate Agents Act 1979.

2.  On an application to the Director under section 6(1) of the Act to revoke or vary an order made by him under section 3 or 4, the fee of £2,500 shall be payable.

3.  For the inspection of the register of orders etc. maintained by the Director and the taking and obtaining of copies of any entry in it under section 8(5) of the Act, the following fees shall be payable:—

(a)For the inspection of the register and the taking of copies of entries in the register…£1 for each file of entries

(b)For the obtaining from the Director of copies of entries in the register certified by the Director to be correct…75p per sheet

(c)For the obtaining by post from the Director of copies of entries in the register certified by the Director to be correct:

one sheet£2.25
2 sheets£3.00
3 sheets£3.75
4 sheets£4.50
5 sheets£5.25
6 sheets£6.25
and for each additional sheet, an additional£1.00

EXPLANATORY NOTE

These Regulations prescribe fees for applications to the Director General of Fair Trading for revocation and variation of orders prohibiting unfit persons from doing estate agency work or warning orders. They also prescribe fees for inspection of the register of orders etc. maintained by the Director and in respect of copies of entries in the register.
