The Agricultural Wages Committees (Transitional Provisions) Order 1974

Interpretation

2.—(1) In this order, unless the context otherwise requires—

“the Act” means the Agricultural Wages Act 1948 as amended or extended by or under any other enactment;

“agricultural wages committee” means an agricultural wages committee established under section 2 of the Act, and includes a sub-committee of any such committee;

“county”, except in the expression “administrative county”, means a county established by or under the Local Government Act 1972;

“dissolution” means dissolution by article 4 of this order, and “dissolved” shall be construed accordingly;

“new committee” means an agricultural wages committee established on or after 1st April 1974;

“old committee” means an agricultural wages committee dissolved by article 4 of this order.

(2) The Interpretation Act 1889 applies to the interpretation of this order as it applies to the interpretation of an Act of Parliament, and as if this order and the orders hereby revoked were Acts of Parliament.
