The Transport (London) Act 1969 (Commencement No. 2) Order 1969

The Minister of Transport in exercise of his powers under section 47 of the Transport (London) Act 1969 and of all other enabling powers hereby makes the following Order:—

1.  This Order may be cited as the Transport (London) Act 1969 (Commencement No. 2) Order 1969.

2.  The provisions of the Transport (London) Act 1969 (hereinafter referred to as “the Act”) specified in the first column of Schedule 1 to this Order (which relate to the subject matter specified in the second column of that Schedule in relation to those provisions) shall come into force on the 30th October 1969, and the provisions of the Act specified in like manner in Schedule 2 to this Order and in the Appendix to that Schedule shall come into force on the 1st January 1970.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order brings into operation on either the 30th October 1969 or the 1st January 1970 all the provisions of the Transport (London) Act 1969 which were not brought into operation by the Transport (London) Act 1969 (Commencement No. 1) Order 1969, with the exception of section 19(1) to (7) (which relates to the transfer or extinguishment of the London Transport Board's debt to the Minister), sections 29 and 30 (which relate to metropolitan roads), section 32 (which relates to pedestrian crossings), and consequential repeals.

The Order specifies which provisions are to come into operation on the 30th October 1969 and which on the 1st January 1970, the latter date being the “vesting date” referred to in the Act.
