Commencement
- Section 339 provides for the commencement of the provisions in this Act.
- Part 6 of this Act (except section 335 and Schedule 30 (minor and consequential amendments)), section 130 and Schedule 7 (mergers involving newspaper enterprises and foreign powers) came into force on the day of Royal Assent. For the most part these are powers to make consequential and financial provision. Provisions which confer powers to make regulations, and provisions which are necessary for enabling the exercise of such powers on or after the day on which Royal Assent is given, also came into force on Royal Assent. Section 129 (and Schedule 6) come into force two months after Royal Assent.
- The remaining provisions of this Act will come into force on such day as the Secretary of State may appoint by regulations. Different days may be appointed for different purposes.
