Territorial extent and application
- Section 333 sets out the territorial extent of the Act, that is the jurisdictions to which various provisions of the Act are subject. The extent of an Act can be different from its application. Application is about where an Act produces a practical effect. Most of the provisions in the Act extend and apply to England, Scotland and Wales with some provisions also extending to Northern Ireland. Some provisions in the Act extend and apply to England and Wales or apply to England only. The commentary on individual provisions (or groups of provisions) of the Act includes a paragraph explaining their extent and application.
- See the table in Annex A for a summary of the position regarding territorial extent and application in the United Kingdom.
