The purpose of the Act is to facilitate investment in new nuclear power stations, supporting the Government’s delivery on the commitments made in the 2020 Energy White Paper and the Prime Minister’s Ten Point Plan and contributing to the Government meeting its legally binding obligations to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050.
