Rating (Coronavirus) And Directors Disqualification (Dissolved Companies) Act 2021

Overview of the Act

  1. This Act:
    1. implements commitments made by the Government on 25 March 2021 to clarify that coronavirus and the Government’s response to it is not reflected in rateable values on the 2017 rating list, 1 and
    2. addresses concerns about the abuse of limited liability, by extending the powers of the Secretary of State and, in Northern Ireland, of the Department for the Economy to investigate the conduct of company directors to include former directors of dissolved companies, to commence disqualification proceedings against them where public interest criteria are met, and to seek compensation where their conduct has caused loss to creditors.
