Commencement
- Section 58 provides that – subject to the exceptions listed at sub-sections (4) and (6) – the provisions of the Act may be brought into force on whatever day the Secretary of State (or the Scottish Ministers, the Department of Justice in Northern Ireland or the Treasury) appoints by Regulation or Statutory Instrument. Sub-section (4) provides for sections 9, 18, 41 and 42 to come into force two months after the passing of the Act. Sub-section (6) provides for itself, the general provisions in sections 54 to 57 and any other necessary provisions to come into force on Royal Assent.
