(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order brings into force on 1st April 2013 the provisions of the Police and Fire Reform (Scotland) Act 2012 (“the Act”), to the extent that those provisions are not already in force.
Section 39 of the Act requires the Scottish Police Authority to produce an annual report in respect of each yearly period ending on 31st March. Article 3 of this Order provides that the Authority is not required to produce such a report in respect of the year ending 31st March 2013.
Paragraph 54 of schedule 7 to the Act makes an amendment to section 87(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as it is to be amended by section 19 of the Road Safety Act 2006. Section 19 will not be in force when paragraph 54 of schedule 7 comes into force, so article 4 of this Order makes transitory provision modifying the amendment made by that paragraph until section 19 comes into force in Scotland.
