The Scottish Ministers make the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by section 1 of the Animal Health Act 1981(1) and all other powers enabling them to do so.
1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Pigs (Records, Identification and Movement) Amendment (Scotland) Order 2008 and comes into force on 5th December 2008.
(2) This Order extends to Scotland only.
2.—(1) The Pigs (Records, Identification and Movement) Order 1995(2) is amended in accordance with the following paragraph of this article.
(2) In article 2(2) for “Council Directive 92/102/EEC on the identification and registration of animals(3)”, substitute “Council Directive 2008/71/EC on the identification and registration of pigs(4)”.

This Order, which extends to Scotland only, amends the Pigs (Records, Identification and Movement) Order 1995 by replacing the reference to Council Directive 92/102/EEC on the identification and registration of animals with a reference to Council Directive 2008/71/EC of 15th July 2008 on the identification and registration of pigs.
2008/71/EC consolidates the provisions of Council Directive 92/102/EEC so far as they relate to domesticated pigs.
A Regulatory Impact Assessment has not been prepared for this Order as it has no impact on the costs of business or the voluntary sector.
