The Department of the Environment makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 1972(1) and conferred on it by Articles 2(8), 4(3) and 6(6) of the Waste and Contaminated Land (Northern Ireland) Order 1997(2).
The Department of the Environment was designated(3) for the purposes of section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 1972 in respect of matters relating to waste electrical and electronic equipment.
In exercising its powers under Article 4(3) of that Order the Department has had regard in particular to the matters specified in Article 4(4).
