Superannuation (Equality Commission for Northern Ireland) Order (Northern Ireland) 2000

The Department of Finance and Personnel in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Article 3(4) and (7) of the Superannuation (Northern Ireland) Order 1972(1) and now vested in it(2) and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement

1.  This Order may be cited as the Superannuation (Equality Commission for Northern Ireland) Order (Northern Ireland) 2000 and shall come into operation on 24th January 2001.

2.  There shall be added to the employments listed in Schedule 1 to the Superannuation (Northern Ireland) Order 1972, with effect from 1st October 1999, employment in the Equality Commission for Northern Ireland(3).

3.  There shall be added to the offices listed in Schedule 1 to the Superannuation (Northern Ireland) Order 1972, with effect from 1st October 1999, the office of Chief Commissioner of the Equality Commission for Northern Ireland.

4.—(1) The following Orders are hereby revoked, that is to say—

(a) the Superannuation (Equal Opportunities Commission) Order (Northern Ireland) 1980(4); and

(b) the Superannuation (Commission for Racial Equality (Northern Ireland)) Order (Northern Ireland) 1998(5).

(2) In the Superannuation (Fair Employment Agency, Labour Relations Agency and Equal Opportunities Commission) Order (Northern Ireland) 1977(6), the following provisions are hereby revoked, that is to say—

(a) Article 2(a) and (c); and

(b) Article 3(a).

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order.)

This Order adds employment in the Equality Commission for Northern Ireland and the office of Chief Commissioner of the Equality Commission to the employments and offices listed in Schedule 1 to the Superannuation (Northern Ireland) Order 1972 for whom the Department of Finance and Personnel may make pension schemes. It is retrospective by virtue of Article 3(7) of the Superannuation (Northern Ireland) Order 1972.

This Order also revokes the Superannuation (Equal Opportunities Commission) Order (Northern Ireland) 1980 and the Superannuation (Commission for Racial Equality (Northern Ireland)) Order 1998. It also revokes the Superannuation (Fair Employment Agency, Labour Relations Agency and Equal Opportunities Commission) Order (Northern Ireland) 1977 in so far as that Order relates to the Fair Employment Agency and the Equal Opportunities Commission.
