Trading, etc., accounts

12.  In section 22 of the Exchequer and Audit Act (Northern Ireland) 1921(1) (trading, etc., accounts)—

(a)in the first paragraph, for the words “manufacturing, trading or commercial services conducted by it” there shall be substituted the words “operations of the Department for which the Department of Finance and Personnel considers it desirable that such statements should be prepared”; and

(b)in the third paragraph, the words from “and in his examination” to “Parliament” shall cease to have effect.

Property held by Comptroller and Auditor General for Northern Ireland

13.  In Part I of Schedule 1 to the Audit (Northern Ireland) Order 1987(2) after paragraph 1 there shall be inserted the following paragraph—

1A.(1) The Comptroller and Auditor General may, for the purposes of his functions as such, acquire, hold and dispose of real or personal property.

(2) Any real or personal property vesting in the Comptroller and Auditor General for such purposes shall (unless and until disclaimed or disposed of) vest in his successor in office for the time being.

(3) Where there is a vacancy in the office of Comptroller and Auditor General at the time when real or personal property would otherwise have vested, the property shall vest and be deemed to have vested in the successor on his appointment..

Increase of limit on issues out of Consolidated Fund for Housing Executive

14.  In Article 15(3) of the Housing (Northern Ireland) Order 1981(3) (aggregate of outstanding advances not to exceed £1,700 million), for “£1,700 million” there shall be substituted “£1,800 million”.

Fees payable to registrar of companies

15.  In Article 657(3) of the Companies (Northern Ireland) Order 1986(4) (application of fees paid to registrar) for the words “applied as the Department of Finance and Personnel may direct” there shall be substituted the words “paid into the Consolidated Fund”.

Repeals

16.  The following are hereby repealed, namely—

(a)in the third paragraph of section 22 of the Exchequer and Audit Act (Northern Ireland) 1921(5), the words from “and in his examination” to “Parliament”;

(b)Article 3 of the Financial Provisions (Northern Ireland) Order 1986(6).
