1Acquisition for certain purposes of inalienable land.N.I.

(1)The power conferred—

(a)on a local authority (as defined by section 17(4) of the Public Health and Local Government (MIscellaneous Provisions) Act (Northern Ireland) 1949) or a statutory water undertaking (as defined by section 16(1) of the Water Supplies and Sewerage Act (Northern Ireland) 1945) by any enactment to acquire land for the purposes of providing a supply, or improving an existing supply, of water or of making provision for sewerage or the disposal of sewage;

shall be exercisable notwithstanding any other enactment (including a local or private Act) providing that the land the subject of such exercise shall be inalienable and any power to make a vesting order under any enactment relating to the acquisition of land for the purposes mentioned in paragraph (a)F1... may be exercised accordingly.

(2)Subsection (1) shall not operate so as to confer power on any authority or undertaking to acquire land held inalienably by the National Trust for Places of Historic Interest or Natural Beauty.

(3)Where by virtue of subsection (1) power is conferred on any authority or undertaking to acquire lanc notwithstanding any enactment (including a local or private Act) providing that the land shall be inalienable, the owner of that land shall be deemed to have power to dispose of that land to that authority or undertaking.
