1991 CHAPTER 24

An Act to re-enact, with amendments, the Northern Ireland (Emergency Provisions) Act 1978, the Northern Ireland (Emergency Provisions) Act 1987 and Part VI of the Prevention of Terrorism (Temporary Provisions) Act 1989; and to make further provision for the preservation of the peace and the maintenance of order in Northern Ireland.

Be it enacted by the Queen’s most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

E1Act extends to Northern Ireland only except certain specified provisions see s. 71(2).

C1The temporary provisions of the Act except s. 34 and Sch. 3 shall continue in force for a period of 12 months beginning with 16.6.1992 by S.I. 1992/1413, art. 3

Commencement Information

I1Act partly in force at 27.8.1991 see s. 69(1); Part VII in force at 1.6.1992 by S.I. 1992/1181, art. 2; by s. 69(2) certain provisions are to expire on 15.6.1992 unless continued; by s. 69(4) s. 34 and Sch. 3 cease to be in force immediately after coming into force; by s. 69(9) Act repealed as from the end of the period of five years beginning with the date on which it came into force
