Sheriff Courts Consignations (Scotland) Act 1893

1In section 7 of the [1893 c. 44.] Sheriff Courts Consignations (Scotland) Act 1893, for the words from " in each succeeding year " to " shall be made " there shall be substituted " in each year the sheriff clerk shall lodge with the Secretary of State a detailed return of unclaimed consignations "

Trade Marks Act 1938

2After section 40 of the [1938 c. 22.] Trade Marks Act 1938 there shall be inserted the following section (which replaces section 82 of the [1907 c. 29.] Patents and Designs Act 1907)—

40AHours of business and excluded days.

(1)Rules under section 40 of this Act may specify the hour at which the Patent Office shall be deemed to be closed on any day for purposes of the transaction by the public of business under this Act or of any class of such business, and may specify days as excluded days for any such purposes.

(2)Any business done under this Act on any day after the hour specified as aforesaid in relation to business of that class, or on a day which is an excluded day in relation to business of that class, shall be deemed to have been done on the next following day not being an excluded day; and where the time for doing anything under this Act expires on an excluded day, that time shall be extended to the next following day not being an excluded day.

Patents, Designs, Copyright and Trade Marks (Emergency) Act 1939

3Section 6(1) of the [1939 c. 107.] Patents, Designs, Copyright and Trade Marks (Emergency) Act 1939 shall continue to have effect with the amendment made by section 6(2) of the [1946 c. 44.] Patents and Designs Act 1946, that is, with the substitution of " that the act was not done within the time so limited by reason that a person was on active service or by reason of " for " that the doing of the act within the time so limited was prevented by a person's being on active service or by ".

Representation of the People Act 1948

4(1)In section 1 of the [1948 c. 65.] Representation of the People Act 1948 the following subsection shall be substituted for subsection (1)—

(1)There shall for the purpose of parliamentary elections be the county and borough constituencies (or in Scotland the county and burgh constituencies), each returning a single member, which are described in Orders in Council made under the House of Commons (Redistribution of Seats) Acts 1949 to 1979.

(2)Neither sub-paragraph (1) above nor the repeal by this Act of Schedule 1 to the Representation of the People Act 1948 shall affect the constitution of the Northern Ireland Assembly in being at the commencement of this Act or any election to the Assembly before the next general election to the Assembly.
