The Official Statistics (Wales) (Amendment) Order 2024

Coming into force

The Welsh Ministers make this Order in exercise of the powers conferred by section 6(1)(b)(iii) and (2) of the Statistics and Registration Service Act 20071.

In accordance with section 6(3) of that Act, the Welsh Ministers have consulted the Statistics Board.

In accordance with section 65(7) of that Act, a draft of this Order has been laid before, and approved by resolution of, Senedd Cymru2.

Title and coming into force1

The title of this Order is the Official Statistics (Wales) (Amendment) Order 2024.

Amendment of the Official Statistics (Wales) Order 20172

In the Schedule to the Official Statistics (Wales) Order 20173, at the appropriate place, insert “Commission for Tertiary Education and Research”4.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order amends the Schedule to the Official Statistics (Wales) Order 2017 (“the 2017 Order”). The 2017 Order provides that the statistics produced, or to be produced, by the persons listed in the Schedule are official statistics for the purpose of Part 1 of the Statistics and Registration Service Act 2007 (“the Act”).

Article 2 of this Order amends the Schedule to the 2017 Order to provide that the statistics produced, or to be produced, by the Commission for Tertiary Education and Research are official statistics for the purpose of Part 1 of the Act. The Commission for Tertiary Education and Research was established as a body corporate by the Tertiary Education and Research (Wales) Act 2022.

The Welsh Ministers’ Code of Practice on the carrying out of Regulatory Impact Assessments was considered in relation to this Order. As a result, it was not considered necessary to carry out a regulatory impact assessment as to the likely costs and benefits of complying with this Order.
