Staff to be appointed on merit

36.  In section 7 of the 1989 Act (all staff to be appointed on merit)—

(a) in subsection (1)—

(i) omit “or” after paragraph (aa);

(ii) after that paragraph insert—

“(ab) a corporate joint committee, or”;

(b) in subsection (2)—

(i) after “committee” insert “or sub-committee”;

(ii) after “local authority” insert “, corporate joint committee”.
