The Public Health (Minimum Price for Alcohol) (Wales) Act 2018 (Commencement No. 2) Order 2020

The Welsh Ministers make the following Order in exercise of the power conferred on them by section 28(2) of the Public Health (Minimum Price for Alcohol) (Wales) Act 20181.

Title1.

The title of this Order is the Public Health (Minimum Price for Alcohol) (Wales) Act 2018 (Commencement No. 2) Order 2020.

Provisions coming into force on 2 March 20202.

The following provisions of the Public Health (Minimum Price for Alcohol) (Wales) Act 2018 come into force on 2 March 2020—

(a)

section 1 for all remaining purposes;

(b)

sections 2 to 25;

(c)

Schedule 1.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)

This is the second commencement order made by the Welsh Ministers under the Public Health (Minimum Price for Alcohol) (Wales) Act 2018 (“the Act”).

The Act makes provision about the minimum price for which alcohol is to be supplied in Wales by certain persons; and for connected purposes.

Article 2 provides that 2 March 2020 is the appointed day for the bringing into force of all provisions of the Act set out in that article and referred to below—

(a)

section 1 for all remaining purposes;

(b)

sections 2 to 25;

(c)

Schedule 1.

This Order brings into force the remaining provisions of the Act which are not already in force.

The following provision of the Act has been brought into force by commencement order made before the date of this Order, to the extent necessary for the making of regulations under that section.
