The Rating Lists (Postponement of Compilation) (Wales) Order 2014

Coming into force in accordance with article 1(1)

The Welsh Ministers make the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 54A(1) of the Local Government Finance Act 1988 (1).

In accordance with section 143(3C)(2) of that Act, a draft of this instrument was laid before and approved by a resolution of the National Assembly for Wales.

Title, commencement and application

1.—(1) The title of this Order is the Rating Lists (Postponement of Compilation) (Wales) Order 2014 and it comes into force 14 days after the day on which it is made.

(2) This Order applies in relation to Wales.

Postponement of compilation of rating lists: specified date

2.  For the purposes of section 54A (postponement of compilation of Welsh lists for 2015 onwards) of the Local Government Finance Act 1988, the specified date is 1 April 2017.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order, which applies in relation to Wales, is made under section 54A of the Local Government Finance Act 1988. That section enables the Welsh Ministers to make an order postponing the date on which the new non-domestic rating lists (ie. the local lists and the central list) in Wales should be compiled from 1 April 2015 to 1 April in 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 or 2020. That section also ensures that new lists must then be compiled every five years thereafter.

The date specified in the Order for the compilation of the lists is 1 April 2017.
