Mae’r Rheoliadau hyn yn diwygio Rheoliadau Addysg (Gwybodaeth am Ddisgyblion Unigol) (Cymru) 2007 (“Rheoliadau 2007”). Mae Rheoliadau 2007 yn ei gwneud yn ofynnol i gorff llywodraethu unrhyw ysgol a gynhelir, pan fydd cais ysgrifenedig yn dod i law oddi wrth yr awdurdod lleol sy’n cynnal yr ysgol, gyflenwi, o fewn pedwar diwrnod ar ddeg, unrhyw wybodaeth y bydd yr awdurdod yn gofyn amdani mewn cysylltiad â disgyblion yn yr ysgol.
Mae rheoliad 2 yn diwygio Rheoliadau 2007 er mwyn ei gwneud yn ofynnol i gorff llywodraethu ddarparu i awdurdod lleol wybodaeth ychwanegol at yr wybodaeth y mae eisoes yn ofynnol iddo ei ddarparu yn rhinwedd Rheoliadau 2007 mewn perthynas â gwahardd disgyblion yn barhaol. Mae rheoliad 2 yn diwygio Rheoliadau 2007 ymhellach er mwyn ei gwneud yn ofynnol i gyrff llywodraethu ddarparu gwybodaeth i awdurdodau lleol mewn perthynas â gwahardd disgyblion am gyfnod penodol.
