The Housing (Wales) Measure 2011 (Commencement No.2) Order 2012
Title, application and interpretation1.

The title of this Order is the Housing (Wales) Measure 2011 (Commencement No.2) Order 2012 and it applies in relation to Wales.

In this Order—
“the Measure” (“y Mesur”) means the Housing (Wales) Measure 2011; and
“the commencement date” (“y dyddiad cychwyn”) is 3 September 2012.
Commencement of Part 1 of the Housing (Wales) Measure 2011 (Suspension of the Right to Buy and Related Rights) on the commencement date2.
Part 1 of the Measure (Suspension of the Right to Buy and Related Rights) comes into force on the commencement date.
This Order, made by the Welsh Ministers, commences Part 1 (Suspension of the Right to Buy and Related Rights) of the Housing (Wales) Measure 2011 (“the Measure”) on 3 September 2012.
A local housing authority may apply to the Welsh Ministers under section 1 of the Measure for a direction to suspend the right to buy and related rights in its area for up to 5 years, provided it has completed a consultation exercise in accordance with section 2 of the Measure within the period of 6 months preceding the application and, in the light of that exercise, it concludes that the housing pressure condition (as set out in section 1(2) of the Measure) exists.
This is the second Commencement Order made under the Measure.
