The Velindre National Health Service Trust (Establishment) (Amendment) Order 2012

The Welsh Ministers, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 18(1) and 204(1) and paragraph 5 of Schedule 3 to the National Health Service (Wales) Act 2006(1), after completion of the consultation prescribed under section 18(3), make the following Order:

1.    Title, commencement and interpretation

(1) The title of this Order is the Velindre National Health Service Trust (Establishment) (Amendment) Order 2012 and it comes into force on 1 June 2012.

(2) In this Order:

“the principal order” means the Velindre National Health Service Trust (Establishment) Order 1993(2);

“Shared Services” means professional, administrative and technical services provided to the health service in Wales.

2.    Amendment of article 1 of the principal Order

(1) Following the definition of “operational date” in article 1(2) of the principal Order, insert —

“shared services” means professional, administrative and technical services provided to the health service in Wales;.

3.    Amendment of article 3 of the principal Order

(1) Following article 3(2)(c) of the principal Order, insert —

(d)to manage and provide shared services to the health service in Wales; and.

(2) Following article 3(2)(d) of the principal Order, insert —

(e)to own or lease the premises associated with the provision of the services in paragraph (d)..

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Orders)

This Order further amends the Velindre National Health Service Trust (Establishment) Order 1993 in order to amend the functions of Velindre National Health Service Trust.

The functions are amended to give Velindre the function of managing and providing shared services to the health service in Wales.
