The Carers Strategies (Wales) Measure 2010 (Commencement) Order 2011

The Welsh Ministers, in exercise of the powers conferred upon them by sections 10 and 11 of the Carers Strategies (Wales) Measure 20101, make the following Order:

Title and interpretation1

The title of this Order is the Carers Strategies (Wales) Measure 2010 (Commencement) Order 2011.

In this Order "the Measure" ("y Mesur") means the Carers Strategies (Wales) Measure 2010.

Commencement on the day after the day on which this Order is made2

Subject to article 3, the Measure comes into force on the day after the day on which this Order is made.

Commencement on 1 January 20123

The following provisions of the Measure come into force on 1 January 2012—

a

Section 2(2) (duty to implement strategy);

b

Section 3(3) (information and advice pursuant to strategy to be provided free of charge);

c

Section 6(1) to (3) (submission of draft strategy to Welsh Ministers);

d

Section 7 (public access to strategy);

e

Section 9 (amendment to the Local Authority Social Services Act 1970).

This Order brings into force the Carers Strategies (Wales) Measure 2010.

The provisions mentioned in article 2 enable the Welsh Ministers to make specific regulations to give effect to the Measure and are brought into force on the day after this Order is made.

The provisions brought into force in article 3 come into force on 1 January 2012 and impose a duty on relevant authorities to prepare and implement a strategy in accordance with the Measure. Strategies must be approved by the Welsh Ministers, published and made available for inspection.

On 1 January 2012 all provisions of the Measure will be in force.
