<Text>Section 7 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 (“<Abbreviation Expansion="Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 c. 69">the Act</Abbreviation>”), together with Regulations made under that section, provide for the registration and ringing or marking of birds that are kept in captivity and are listed in Schedule 4 to the Act.</Text>

<Text>Article 3 of this Order removes the birds listed in that article from Schedule 4 to the Act. It also removes the reference to hybrids so that Schedule 4 no longer includes hybrids of the species of birds in the list.</Text>

<Text>The powers of the Secretary of State under section 22(1) of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 were transferred to the National Assembly for Wales by Article 2 of, and Schedule 1 to, the National Assembly for Wales (Transfer of Functions) Order 1999 (S.I. <Citation URI="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/id/uksi/1999/672" id="c00005" Year="1999" Number="0672" Class="UnitedKingdomStatutoryInstrument">1999/672</Citation>) and thereafter transferred to the Welsh Ministers by section 162 of, and paragraph 30 of Schedule 11 to the Government of Wales Act <Citation URI="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/id/ukpga/2006/32" id="c00006" Year="2006" Number="0032" Class="UnitedKingdomPublicGeneralAct">2006 (c. 32)</Citation>.</Text>
