Title, commencement, interpretation and application1.

The title of these Regulations is the Rice Products from the United States of America (Restriction on First Placing on the Market) (Wales) (Amendment) Regulations 2008.

These Regulations come into force on 17 July 2008.

These Regulations apply in relation to Wales.
Amendment of the principal Regulations2.
The principal Regulations are amended in accordance with the following paragraphs—
(a)
in regulation 2(1) (interpretation) in the definition of “feed authority” for “section 67(1)” substitute “section 67(1A)”;
(b)
in paragraph (1) of regulation 4 (enforcement) omit the words “or as the case may be district”; and
(c)
in regulation 5 (applications of various provisions of the Food Safety Act 1990) in paragraph (c) (which relates to section 32 — powers of entry) omit the words “or as the case may be district”.
These Regulations amend the Rice Products from the United States of America (Restriction on First Placing on the Market) (Wales) Regulations 2008 (“the principal Regulations”).
The principal Regulations implement in relation to Wales Commission Decision 2006/601/EC on emergency measures regarding non-authorised genetically modified organism “LL RICE 601” in rice products (OJ No. L244, 7.9.2006, p.27) as last amended by Commission Decision 2008/162/EC amending Decision 2006/601/EC on emergency measures regarding the non-authorised genetically modified organism “LL RICE 601” in rice products (OJ No. L52, 27.2.2008, p.25).
These Regulations—
amend regulation 2 of the principal Regulations to correct a typographical error; and
amend regulations 4 and 5 of the principal Regulations to remove unnecessary wording.
No regulatory impact assessment has been prepared in relation to these Regulations.
