Mae'r Rheoliadau hyn yn dirymu ac yn disodli Rheoliadau Trefniadau ar gyfer Lleoli Plant (Cyffredinol) 1991 o ran Cymru. Mae'r Rheoliadau yn gwneud darpariaeth ar gyfer y trefniadau i leoli plant gan awdurdodau lleol, cyrff gwirfoddol a phersonau sy'n cadw cartrefi preifat i blant yng Nghymru. Caiff y lleoliadau fod gyda rhieni maeth, mewn cartrefi cymunedol, cartrefi gwirfoddol i blant neu gartrefi preifat i blant ac o dan drefniadau eraill (ond nid mewn cartref a ddarperir yn unol â threfniadau a wneir gan y Cynulliad o dan adran 82(5) o Ddeddf Plant 1989).
