The Animal Welfare Act 2006 (Commencement No. 1) (Wales) Order 2007

The National Assembly for Wales in exercise of the power conferred by section 68(3)(b) of the Animal Welfare Act 20061, makes the following Order:

Title and application1

The title of this Order is the Animal Welfare Act 2006 (Commencement No.1) (Wales) Order 2007.

This Order applies in relation to Wales.

Commencement of provisions2

The following provisions of the Animal Welfare Act 2006 come into force when this Order is made—

a

Sections 1 to 7;

b

Section 8(1), (2), (7) and (8);

c

Sections 9 to 12;

d

Section 13 and Schedule 1;

e

Sections 17 to 45;

f

Sections 51 and 52;

g

Section 53 and Schedule 2;

h

Sections 54 to 60;

i

Sections 62 and 63;

j

Section 64 to the extent that it relates to the provisions of Schedule 3 specified in paragraph (l);

k

Section 65 to the extent that it relates to the provisions of Schedule 4 specified in paragraph (m);

l

Schedule 3 except paragraph 3(1);

m

Schedule 4 except—

i

Section 2 of the Pet Animals Act 1951 (c. 35);

ii

Sections 2, 3, 6, 7 and 8 of the Agriculture (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1968 (c. 34);

iii

Sections 37 to 39 of the Animal Health Act 1981 (c. 22) and paragraph 8 of Schedule 5 to that Act.

This Order brings into force in relation to Wales certain provisions of the Animal Welfare Act 2006. The provisions are specified in article 2(1) and come into force at the time this Order is made on 27 March 2007.
