The Velindre National Health Service Trust (Establishment) Amendment Order 2002

The National Assembly for Wales, in exercise of powers conferred on the Secretary of State for Wales by section 126(3) of the National Health Service Act 19771, section 5(1) and (6) of the National Health Service and Community Care Act 19902 and now vested in the National Assembly for Wales3 after completion of the consultation prescribed under section 5(2) of the National Health Service and Community Care Act 19904, hereby makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement1.

(1)

This order may be cited as the Velindre National Health Service Trust (Establishment) Amendment Order 2002 and shall come into force on 1st April 2002.

(2)

In this Order, “the principal Order” (“y prif Orchymyn”) means the Velindre National Health Service Trust (Establishment) Order 1993 as amended 5.

Amendment of article 3 of the principal Order2.

The principal Order shall be amended as follows:—

  • at the end of article 3(2)(b) add—

    “(c)

    to manage and provide to or in relation to the health service in Wales a range of information technology systems and associated support and consultancy services, desktop services, web development, telecommunications services, healthcare information services and services relating to prescribing and dispensing.”

Amendment of article 4 of the principal Order3.

In article 4 of the principal Order (Directors of the trust), for “4 non-executive directors” substitute “6 non-executive directors”.

This Order further amends the Velindre National Health Service Trust (Establishment) Order 1993 (the principal Order) so as to amend its functions and increase its number of non-executive directors.

The Order extends the functions of the trust to include the function of managing and providing services relating to information technology, health information, telecommunications and prescribing and dispensing.

This Order further amends the principal Order by increasing the number of non-executive directors from 4 to 6.
