This Order appoints 30th April 2002 as the day for the coming into force of certain provisions of Part IV of the Care Standards Act (“the Act”) to the extent that the provisions confer powers to, in relation to Wales, make orders, regulations or rules, or prepare and publish codes of practice.

The provisions are about the registration of social care workers (sections 56 and 60 of the Act); the use of the title “social worker” (section 61); codes of practice about standards of conduct and practice expected of social care workers and their employers (section 62); social work qualifications obtained outside Wales (section 64); and post-registration training of social care workers (section 65).

The Order also appoints 30th April 2002 as the day for the coming into force of section 71 of the Act, in so far as it is not already in force. Section 71 makes provision about rules made under Part IV.
