Amendment of the National Health Service (General Medical Services) Regulations 1992 2 1 The National Health Service (General Medical Services) Regulations 1992 shall be amended in accordance with the following paragraph of this Regulation. 2 In Schedule 10 (drugs and other substances not to be prescribed for supply under pharmaceutical services), the following entries shall be omitted— Nicabate Nicotine Transdermal Patch Nico Patch Nicodex Patch Niconil Transdermal Patch Nicorette Nicorette Nasal Spray Nicorette Patch Nicorette Plus Nicostop Patch Nicotine Patch (QHR Limited) Nicotinell Gum Nicotinell TTS Patches . These Regulations further amend the National Health Service (General Medical Services) Regulations 1992 (“the principal Regulations”) which regulate the terms on which doctors provide general medical services under the National Health Service Act 1977.

Regulation 2 deletes specified nicotine replacement therapy products from the list in Schedule 10 to the principal Regulations. Schedule 10 lists the drugs and other substances which may not be prescribed in the course of pharmaceutical services provided under the National Health Service Act 1977.

The functions of the Secretary of State under sections 29 and 126(4) of the National Health Service Act 1977 were transferred to the National Assembly for Wales by the National Assembly for Wales (Transfer of Functions) Order 1999, S.I.1999/672, article 2 and Schedule 1, as amended by the 1999 Act, section 66(5).
