Citation, commencement, interpretation and application1.

These Regulations may be cited as the Community Health Councils Amendment (Wales) Regulations 2000 and shall come into force on 1st March 2000.

Amendment of the 1996 Regulations2.
“(2A)
In the event of the term of office of every member of a Council whose district is situated in Wales expiring on the same date, the term of office of all members appointed in consequence thereof shall be settled in accordance with the same provisions as are applied by paragraph (2) above in relation to first appointments.”.
These Regulations have effect to amend the Community Health Councils Regulations 1996 (“the 1996 Regulations”) by providing that regulation 3(2) of the 1996 Regulations shall apply in the event of the terms of office of every member of a Council terminating on the same date which situation will arise in the case of all Councils in Wales on 31st March 2000.
The terms of office of members appointed to Councils in consequence of this event shall be settled as if they were on first appointment upon the establishment of a new council. As such the terms of some members will overlap with the terms of others as provided for by regulation 3(2).
