These Regulations may be cited as the Education (Exclusion from School) (Prescribed Periods) (Amendment) (Wales) Regulations 2000 and shall come into force on 1st January 2001.

Amendment2.

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations amend the Education (Exclusion from School) (Prescribed Periods) Regulations 1999 in relation to maintained schools in Wales.

Regulation 2 provides that where a pupil at such a school would, as a result of an exclusion, be excluded for a fixed period of more than five but not more than 15 school days in total in any one term, a governing body must normally take each of the steps referred to in section 66(2) of the School Standards and Framework Act 1998 not later than 50 school days after receiving notification of the exclusion (rather than 30 school days as previously).
