In accordance with section 173(1)(b) of the Social Security Administration Act 1992, the Social Security Advisory Committee has agreed that the proposals in respect of these Regulations should not be referred to it. These Regulations amend Part 3 of the Universal Credit, Personal Independence Payment, Jobseeker’s Allowance and Employment and Support Allowance (Decisions and Appeals) Regulations 2013 (S.I. 2013/381).

Regulation 2 allows the Secretary of State to extend the length of a fixed term award of personal independence payment, where it is considered necessary to do so to safeguard the efficient administration of personal independence payment.
