The Secretary of State for Transport, being the traffic authority for the Severn Bridge on the M48 motorway and in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 2(1), 2(2)(a), 4(1), 14(1)(b) and 14(4)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984(1) (“the Act”), makes the following Order.
In accordance with section 14(1)(b) of the Act, the Secretary of State is satisfied that traffic on the lengths of road specified in this Order should be restricted because of the likelihood of danger to the public, and of serious damage to the road, which is not attributable to works.
The Secretary of State has had regard to the existence of alternative routes suitable for the traffic which will be affected by this Order in accordance with section 14(3) of the Act.
1984 c. 27; section 2(1) was amended by section 168(1) of, and paragraph 18(2) of Schedule 8 to, the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 (c. 22). Section 2(2) was amended by section 168(1) of, and paragraph 18(3) of Schedule 8 to, the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991. Section 14 was substituted by section 1(1) of, and Schedule 1 to, the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991 (c. 26).
