The Police Pensions (Employer Contributions) (Amendment) Regulations 2024

The Secretary of State makes these Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 1(1) and (5) and 7(1) of the Police Pensions Act 1976(1) (“the 1976 Act”) and sections 2(1) (with paragraph 7 of Schedule 2) and 3(2)(a) (with paragraph 9 of Schedule 3), (3)(b) and (c) of the Public Service Pensions Act 2013(2) (“the 2013 Act”).

In accordance with section 1(1) of the 1976 Act(3) and section 3(5) of the 2013 Act, the Treasury has consented to the making of these Regulations.

In accordance with section 1(1) of the 1976 Act the Secretary of State has consulted the Police Advisory Board for England and Wales and in accordance with section 1(1ZB) invited the views of the Northern Ireland Policing Board and the Police Association for Northern Ireland(4).

In accordance with section 21(1) of the 2013 Act the Secretary of State has consulted the representatives of such persons as appear to the Secretary of State likely to be affected by these Regulations.

1976 c. 35. Section 1(1) was amended by section 133(3)(a) of the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 (c. 12). There are other amendments to sections 1(1) and 7(1) which are not relevant to these Regulations.
