The Ashford (Electoral Changes) (No. 2) Order 2023
The Local Government Boundary Commission for England has decided to give effect to the recommendations and makes the following Order in exercise of the power conferred by section 92(3) of that Act.
Citation and commencement1.
(1)
This Order may be cited as the Ashford (Electoral Changes) (No. 2) Order 2023.
(2)
This article comes into force on the day after the day on which this Order is made.
(3)
Article 2 comes into force—
(a)
for the purpose of proceedings preliminary or relating to the election of councillors, on 15th October 2024;
(b)
(4)
This Order extends to England and Wales but applies in relation to England only.
Alteration of electoral division boundaries2.

The area marked D on Plan 4 as referred to in the Order, which ceased to be part of the parish of Great Chart with Singleton and became part of the parish of Kingsnorth in consequence of the Order, ceases to be part of the electoral division of Ashford Rural West and becomes part of the electoral division of Ashford Rural South.

The area marked A on Plan 6 referred to in the Order, which became part of the parish of Kingsnorth in consequence of the Order, ceases to be part of the electoral division of Ashford East and becomes part of the electoral division of Ashford Rural South.

The area marked B on Plan 6 referred to in the Order, which became part of the parish of Kingsnorth in consequence of the Order, ceases to be part of the electoral division of Ashford East and becomes part of the electoral division of Ashford Rural South.
(5)
The area marked C on Plan 6 as referred to in the Order, which ceased to be part of the parish of Kingsnorth in consequence of the Order, ceases to be part of the electoral division of Ashford Rural South and becomes part of the electoral division of Ashford East.

This Order gives effect to recommendations made by Ashford Borough Council to the Local Government Boundary Commission for England for the alteration of electoral division boundaries.
The alterations are a consequence of changes to parish boundaries under the Ashford Borough (Reorganisation of Community Governance) Order No 1 2016 made by Ashford Borough Council under powers including section 86 of the Local Government and Public Involvement in Health Act 2007 (c. 28). A hard copy of that Order is available for inspection at reasonable times at the offices of Ashford Borough Council, Civic Centre, Tannery Lane, Ashford, Kent, TN23 1PL.
The changes to the electoral divisions described in article 2 apply in respect of elections to be held on and after the ordinary day of election of councillors in England in 2025.
An impact assessment has not been produced for this instrument as no impact on the private or voluntary sectors is foreseen.
