The regulator may appoint a person (referred to in this Chapter as “an inspector”) to act on the regulator’s behalf for the purposes set out in section 26(2).

The regulator must not appoint a person under paragraph (1) unless satisfied that that person is qualified to carry out the functions that the regulator authorises the person to carry out.

The regulator may appoint an inspector under this Chapter on such terms as the regulator may determine and may terminate that appointment at any time.

Any appointment of an inspector under this regulation must be made in writing and must specify the powers available to the inspector.
