The Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty in Council

Under Article 41 of the Charter of the United Nations the Security Council of the United Nations has, by a resolution adopted on 26th February 2011, called upon Her Majesty’s Government in the United Kingdom to apply certain measures to give effect to decisions of that Council in relation to Libya(1):

Her Majesty, in exercise of the powers conferred on Her by section 1 of the United Nations Act 1946(2), section 63(3)(c) and (4) of the Sanctions and Anti-Money Laundering Act 2018(3), section 112 of the Saint Helena Act 1833(4), the British Settlements Acts 1887 and 1945(5), and of all other powers enabling Her to do so, is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to make the following Order:

The Security Council of the United Nations adopted resolution 1970 (2011) (arms embargo, travel ban and asset-freeze) on 26 February 2011 (“resolution 1970”). Paragraph 15 of resolution 1970 requires States to take necessary measures to prevent the entry into or transit through their territories of persons designated pursuant to paragraph 24 of that resolution.
