The Approved Country Lists (Animals and Animal Products) (Amendment) Regulations 2021

Coming into force
The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred by regulations 6 to 9, 11 and 12 of the Trade in Animals and Animal Products (Legislative Functions) and Veterinary Surgeons (Amendment) (EU Exit) Regulations 20191, makes the following Regulations.
In accordance with the requirements of the regulations mentioned above, the Secretary of State has obtained the consent of the appropriate authority2.

Citation and commencement1.

(1)

These Regulations may be cited as the Approved Country Lists (Animals and Animal Products) (Amendment) Regulations 2021.

(2)

They come into force on 28th March 2021.

Amendments to Commission Decision 2007/777/EC laying down the animal and public health conditions and model certificates for imports of certain meat products and treated stomachs, bladders and intestines for human consumption from third countries2.

(2)

In Annex 2, Part 2—

(a)

in the table, for the row for Iceland, substitute—

Amendments to Commission Regulation (EC) No 798/2008 laying down a list of third countries, territories, zones or compartments from which poultry and poultry products may be imported into and transit through the Community and the veterinary certification requirements3.

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations are made in exercise of powers conferred by the Trade in Animals and Animal Products (Legislative Functions) and Veterinary Surgeons (Amendment) (EU Exit) Regulations 2019 (S.I. 2019/1225), in particular, regulations 6 to 9, 11 and 12.

They amend entries in the approved lists contained in retained direct EU legislation for imports of certain types of products, including food and animal products. The amendments are principally to entries relating to Iceland.

A full impact assessment has not been produced for this instrument as no, or no significant, impact on the private, voluntary or public sectors is foreseen.
