Citation and commencement
1. These Regulations may be cited as the M23 Motorway (Gatwick Spur) (50 Miles Per Hour Speed Limit) Regulations 2020 and come into force on 3rd August 2020.
Interpretation
2. In these Regulations—
“carriageway” and “motorway” have the same meaning as in the Motorways Traffic (England and Wales) Regulations 1982(1);
“the eastern roundabout” means the circular intersection of the Gatwick Spur, Airport Way, Ring Road North and Ring Road South;
“the Gatwick Spur” means the eastbound and westbound carriageways of the M23 motorway connecting Airport Way, Ring Road North and Ring Road South with the northbound and southbound carriageways of the M23 motorway at junction 9; and
“the specified road” means that length of the westbound carriageway of the Gatwick Spur beginning at the eastern end of the parapet railing on the southern edge of the bridge carrying the Gatwick Spur over Peaks Brook Lane and ending at the junction with the eastern roundabout.

3. No person shall drive a vehicle on the specified road at a speed exceeding 50 miles per hour.
