Coming into force

The Lord Chancellor, in exercise of the power conferred on him by section 104(1) of the Senior Courts Act 19811, having consulted the President of the Family Division as nominee of the Lord Chief Justice2, makes the following Order:

Citation and Commencement1

This Order may be cited as the District Probate Registries (Amendment) Order 2020 and comes into force on 22nd April 2020.

Amendments to the District Probate Registries Order 19822

The Schedule to the District Probate Registries Order 19823 is amended as follows.

In article 2(1), omit “column 1 of”

Omit article 3.

In article 4(1), omit “or of a district probate sub-registry”.

In column 1 of the Schedule—

a

omit the heading “Column 1”; and

b

omit “Birmingham”.

Omit column 2 of the Schedule.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order amends the District Probate Registries Order 1982 (S.I.1982/379) (the “Order”) to revoke the Lord Chancellor’s direction that a probate registry be established at Birmingham and that sub-registries be established at the places listed in column 2 of the Schedule to the Order.
