Continued application of section 7(1) of the Immigration Act 1988 for purposes of housing legislationU.K.

5.  Notwithstanding the repeal of section 7 of the Immigration Act 1988 (exemption from requirement for leave to enter or remain for persons exercising EU Rights etc.) M1 by paragraph 1 of Schedule 1 to the 2020 Act, a member of the post-transition period group is not to be treated as “a person subject to immigration control” within—

(a)the meaning of section 13 of the Asylum and Immigration Act 1996 (short title, interpretation, commencement and extent) M2 for the purposes of the exercise of the functions specified in paragraph 6; or

(b)the meaning of section 118 of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999 (housing authority accommodation) for the purposes of the exercise of the functions specified in paragraph 7.
