Coming into force
The Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, after reference to the Industrial Injuries Advisory Council1, makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 108(1) and (2) and 175(1) and (3) of the Social Security Contributions and Benefits Act 19922.
The Secretary of State is satisfied of the matters referred to in section 108(2)(a) and (b) of that Act.
Citation, commencement and interpretation1

These Regulations may be cited as the Social Security (Industrial Injuries) (Prescribed Diseases) Amendment Regulations 2018 and come into force on 28th September 2018.

In these Regulations, “the principal Regulations” means the Social Security (Industrial Injuries) (Prescribed Diseases) Regulations 19853.
Amendment of Schedule 1 to the principal Regulations2

Part 1 of Schedule 1 to the principal Regulations (list of prescribed diseases and the occupations for which they are prescribed)4 is amended as follows.

In column 2—
a
in B15 for “Employment as a healthcare worker having contact”, substitute with “Contact”;
b
in D6(a) for “in or about a building”, substitute with “at a workplace” and after the words “wooden goods” insert “or products made wholly or partially of wood”;
c
in D6(c) at the end omit the full stop and add –
;or
- a
exposure to wood dust in the course of the machine processing of wood.
