This Order, which extends to England and Wales and Scotland, prescribes the fees payable by the holder of a licence issued under section 2C of the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986.

This Order provides for an additional fee, payable in addition to the fee payable under the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986 (Fees) Order 2015, to be paid by licence holders for the period of twelve months beginning with 6th April 2018. If any person holds a licence under section 2C only during the period beginning with 1st April 2019 and ending with 5th April 2019 the only fee payable is a fee, determined in accordance with paragraphs (2) to (4) of article 2 as if it were an additional fee.

The Order also provides that this overall increased fee will be payable in respect of periods of twelve months beginning with 6th April 2019.

An Impact Assessment allows those with an interest in the policy area to understand:

  • Why the government is proposing to intervene;
  • The main options the government is considering, and which one is preferred;
