New article 5A of the Principal Order

2. After article 5 (when a charge must be paid) of the Principal Order insert—
“Payment in foreign currency
5A. Where a person seeks to pay a charge required under article 3 of this Order in a currency other than sterling (“the foreign currency”), the charge payable in the foreign currency is determined by reference to the Home Office Exchange Rate Policy(1) applying on the date that the payment is made.”.

Explanatory Memorandum
Explanatory Memorandum sets out a brief statement of the purpose of a Statutory Instrument and provides information about its policy objective and policy implications. They aim to make the Statutory Instrument accessible to readers who are not legally qualified and accompany any Statutory Instrument or Draft Statutory Instrument laid before Parliament from June 2004 onwards.
