The South Tees Development Corporation (Establishment) Order 2017

The Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government makes the following Order, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 198 of the Localism Act 20111 (“the 2011 Act”) as modified by article 4 of, and the Schedule to, the Tees Valley Combined Authority (Functions) Order 20172 (“the 2017 Order”), having been notified of the designation of a Corporation for an area, and of the name to be given to the Corporation for the area, by the Mayor under section 197(6)(b) and (c) of the 2011 Act as modified by article 4 of, and the Schedule to, the 2017 Order.

Citation and commencement1.

This Order may be cited as the South Tees Development Corporation (Establishment) Order 2017 and comes into force on 1st August 2017.

Mayoral Development Area2.

(1)

The Mayoral development area is the area of land shown bounded externally by the inside edge of the black line on the map.

In paragraph (1), “the map” means the map marked “Map referred to in the South Tees Development Corporation (Establishment) Order 2017” of which prints signed by a Deputy Director in the Department for Communities and Local Government have been deposited, and are available for inspection, at the offices of the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government and at the offices of the Combined Authority.

Establishment and naming of the South Tees Development Corporation3.

There is established a corporation for the Mayoral development area named the “South Tees Development Corporation”.

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order establishes a corporation in relation to an area in the Tees Valley Combined Authority, designated as a Mayoral development area. The area is shown bounded externally by the inside edge of the black line on the map.

The power to designate and establish the corporation is set out in section 198 of the Localism Act 2011, as modified by Article 4 of, and the Schedule to, the Tees Valley Combined Authority (Functions) Order 2017 (S.I. 2017/250).

The corporation for the area is to be called the South Tees Development Corporation (article 4).
