The Blood Safety and Quality (Amendment) Regulations 2017

Coming into force
The Secretary of State has been designated for the purpose of section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 19721 in relation to health protection measures regulating the use of material of human origin2.
The Secretary of State for Health makes these Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 1972.
Citation, commencement and interpretation1

These Regulations may be cited as the Blood Safety and Quality (Amendment) Regulations 2017 and come into force on 15th February 2018.

In these Regulations “the principal Regulations” means the Blood Safety and Quality Regulations 20053.
Amendment of regulation 7 of the principal Regulations2
In regulation 7 of the principal Regulations (blood establishment requirements), in paragraph (1)(b), after “Commission Directive 2005/62/EC4” insert “and which gives effect to the requirements in respect of the use of good practice guidelines set out in Article 2.2 of that Directive5”.
Amendment of regulation 9 of the principal Regulations3
In regulation 9 of the principal Regulations (hospital blood bank requirements), in paragraph (1)(b), after “Commission Directive 2005/62 EC” insert “and which gives effect to the requirements in respect of the use of good practice guidelines set out in Article 2.2 of that Directive”.
